leadership camp

at first, i was quite reluctant to attend the camp coz i thought it would be boring and all..... but it turned out to be fun and exciting.... we had talks from three lecturers.. of course, i love mr victor ong's talk the most... he is rather funny but what a pity that his voice is not loud enough...probably he should consider using a microphone the next time... he taught us about goal settings and time management...

mr victor:girl, what is not important??

me:watching tv ..

mr victor:huh??watching tv not important ah??then, what's important??

me:studying..

mr victor:so, u only like to study la.... go toilet oso study.. eating oso study..

(the crowd started to laugh as mr victor acted out a scene where i'm studying while in the toilet)

haha....... kena BOM!! still happy:)

the talk on handling peer pressure was superb.. the speaker is definitely a pro in handling teenage problems..

the talk on communications was awesome too... i will try to apply it next year.. when school reopens!!

eg:

1) prefect:Good morning girls, please line up and stop polluting the environment with your angelic voices.. (smiles)

instead of...

2) prefect:Girls, keep quiet! (which is quite rude)

the games were mind challenging and fun...
but before that, we were divided into groups (each group consists of at least one participant from each school)

my team(team H) :
team leader:danny(la salle)
team members:jared(la salle),amanda(rz),maha(star),sangkari(sri andalas),lee king(high.s)
ling wei(mgs)~me, lina and another 2 girls(sorry i forgot ur names)

1st challenge: using 2 pieces of newspaper and cellophane tape, wrap an egg so that it does not crack when dropped from a certain height.....N construct a bridge using newspaper, pens, pencils. paperclips, cellophane tape and scissors...

(we managed to protect the egg but our bridge turned out more like a giraffe compared to a bridge BUT it was UNIQUE)

2nd challenge: complete blanks and sentences to get ur clues to the next check point..

clues: lie + berries = library...so that is the next checkpoint, the LIBRARY...

3rd challenge: look for HICT advertisements and brochures hidden in a stack of newspapers...i managed to find 2.. yahoo....

* i forgot the order from the 3rd challenge onwards so it's a bit more messy when you scroll down....

we proceed to the computer lab to gt our next clue... Diploma in Accountancy is our course...we visited all the labs in HICT, we recited tongue twisters... (she sells sea shells on the sea shore)..we received a fake RM 21,600 cheque and rushed to the bursary to gt it stamped...we even designed a poster for the HICT Education fair.. it looks good though.. danny said we won that challenge... (designing a poster).. thanks to LING WEI DA VINCI...haha..

here comes the SAD and DESPERATE part...

we were the first team to arrive at the starting point BUT we were quite late in completing our final mission because of certain complications that should not be mentioned here as it is PRIVATE and CONFIDENTIAL...

finally, we ended up as the runner-up instead of the champion...but it was fun i have NO regrets... the activities tested our team work, patience, perseverance, and communications among team members as well as our abilities to solve problems...

I would say that the HICT Leadership Camp's crews did a fantastic job to make this event a success!! thumbs up for everyone..

*and Amanda, thanx for accompanying me throughout the camp ....

*too bad i did not bring my camera...
