Happy Chinese New Year

Happy " Niu" Year!!
Despite my hustle and bustle schedule, I am here to pen (blog) down my final thoughts before the upcoming new year..
Glimpsing into year 2008, I am happy that most of my resolutions came true.. This morning, I was busy completing my EST homework as well as my Biology report.. Then, we had reunion lunch comprising of my dad, my mum, my aunt, my brothers and me.. I gobbled down a whole lot of Chinese traditional delicacies..Absolutely gastronomical!!.. Reunion lunch was superb, we had about 15 dishes to choose from.. In the afternoon, I watched the Australian Open, as usual, I gave my fullest support to my one and only Roger Federer. A little hindrance at the beginning, but back in shape after the second match. It was a five set thriller. At night, we had reunion dinner. As predicted, I gobbled down a whole lot of cuisines including meatballs, fish, mushrooms, chicken and etc.. you know what I mean...
- I am so clueless about what to blog -
Let's see....................................................................................................
So, let's see what new year means to me...
1) It means that I am getting older.
2)It also means that I am definitely going to put on weight. Thanks to the delicious and mouth-watering cookies.
3)It means that I survived the whole of last year and will need to survive the whole of the upcoming year again..
Anyway, new year is something I love.. So,
~GONG XI FA CAI~
Surprisingly,I am quite speechless on new year eve...

back to square one

Hei everybody...
As predicted previously, I am now too busy to blog as I am back to my as busy as a bee lifestyle.. Everyday the routine repeats itself with Sundays as exceptions; getting up at the crack of dawn, I put on my prefects uniform, eat my breakfast and head to school. Once back from the school, it has to be tuition or homework for the rest of the day...and sometimes a boring stay back in school till 6pm in the evening for a so-called house practice for the upcoming cross-country event... As usual my priority is my academic performance in school. Hence, I withdrew from certain activities at the very beginning of the year to make up for my studies. Although co-curricular activities are imperative for us to be able to make it into universities, but academic excellence is still my priority.. Of course I don't mind staying back for house practice but what about the four hours co-curricular activity on Saturdays??? I attended the activities simply to mark my attendance but I sacrificed the whole of my Saturday mornings in school doing nothing but to proceed from one meeting place to the other in order to mark my attendance... Anyway, rules are made to be followed.. So, i will just stick to my miss goody-two-shoes title in the school...

Yesterday, we had a workshop for club leaders, secretaries and treasurers in school. So, instead of studying, we were asked to spend the entire day in the school hall. Atiqah and I were the emcees and I screwed up. For those who never noticed, I actually mispronounced a few words. Surprisingly, I didn't have butterflies in my stomach throughout the whole day.. Initially,I was indeed surprised when Puan Masz told me that they chose me as the official emcee of the school. This is because I do not have a superb command of both the English and Malay language.. So, why me?? Anyway, i really appreciate the honour the school gave me and this is a good public speaking practice for me.. So, why not?? However, being an emcee is not a piece of cake.. You have got to run around the school searching for the next speaker... In a nutshell, I have to go now.. I have piles and piles of homework to be completed before the deadlines... Bye.. :) Life goes on..................

Day 2

Day 2

We arrived at Xinglong after about an hour ride on a lousy coach from Haikou. We visited the largest bird park in Asia but I seriously think that the bird parks in Malaysia are heads and shoulders above the one that I visited in Xinglong. However, I would consider the bird show to be an eye opener as the birds were really adorable and smart, way better than those in A'Famosa, Melaka. Sorry guys, but I think the birds in Xinglong are better trained compared to Malaysian-trained ones. I was expecting to see a kaleidoscope of different types of birds there and it turned out to be disappointing. Due to the gloomy and wet weather, we couldn't enjoy sightseeing to the maximum :( Later, we visited the so-called Wen Quan river. We were supposed to go on a 'cruise' along the river to enjoy the picturesque sceneries and it turned out to be raining cats and dogs. To rub salt onto the wound, the tour guide actually guided us out of the coach and showed us the beautiful and marvellous river mentioned in the itinerary. We were again soaked and the history repeats itself. The river was so swollen and they actually expect us to go on a ride along the river on a small wooden boat. I mean we were there for holidays, NOT fear factor or amazing race... Who would dare go on a 'cruise' along that swollen river??? We ended up wet and soaked from head to toe. Again!! We put up with a bumpy ride out of that area and headed towards the restaurant. The weather was chilly and we were basically shivering. Here comes the super stunt of the day.. The waitress in the restaurant actually fitted three tables into a room made for two. Thus, we were cramped up like sandwiches .. To get to the washroom, I took take a detour from one end to the other in order to not bump into those gobbling down their meals hungrily. However, I spotted improvement in their toilet cleanliness. Sorry Malaysians, but I think their toilets are now way cleaner than our toilets here in Malaysia. I mean they are so odourless compared to ours which possesses a strong aroma. We can actually locate the toilet based on our sense of smell. Although not as superb as the dogs but you can actually sniff your way to the toilet. Later in the day, we visited Evan's Cafe, a famous cafe selling coffee based products. From coffee to coffee sweets to coffee with coconut milk to black coffee to white coffee to coffee biscuits and the list goes on.. The place was packed with local and foreign tourists and food samples were available throughout our tour in that cafe. Something like a gourmet festival but limited to coffee based products. Delicious and 'ho-chiak' as well as mouth watering. One of the set backs when visiting China is that possibilities you get conned there is 99.9%. Here is how my family and I were conned: 1)We bought six packs of biscuits for 10 yuan in that cafe and the next day we saw eight for ten yuan in a grocery store! 2)I bought a watch for 25 yuan in the cafe and the same watch was worth only 10 yuan at the road side stalls and the worst 8 yuan at the beach! And we were conned again.. We arrived in the hotel late at night at about 8pm. The hot spring pool was not a walking distance from our hotel unit. So, we did not manage to enjoy the hot spring and the we went to bed early.. Still sad about the fact that I got conned, I thought I was street-smart all this while. We took 0 pictures in Xinglong due to the sad weather.. TO BE CONTINUED

Day 1

My holidays in Haikou would be a better one if not for the rain.

Day 1
We touched down in Haikou's International Airport at about 11 am. It was windy but not raining. We then proceed to visit the Su Dong Po's Institute and it started to rain. At first, it was drizzling. Later, it was officially raining. Lastly, it was raining cats and dogs when we were in the Volacanic Geopark. The sceneries in the Volcanic Geo park were breathtaking. Leftover rocks from dead volcanoes was among the attractions there. The smell of sulphur was inevitable..

Haikou

Happy New Year............

After a five days stay in Haikou (CHINA), I am back to Malaysia. I am over the moon to be back home. After a long journey away from motherland, I realised I missed home. In fact, I truly believe that home is where the heart is. The experience was magnificent although the weather there was gloomy and it was raining cats and dogs when I was there. Haikou is located in the southern China and possesses a tropical climate just like our country. However, the temperature fluctuates towards the end of the year unlike Malaysia. We visited Haikou, Xinglong and Sanya. Compared to my previous holidays in Beijing and Shanghai, Haikou is no match for both the giant cities. Haikou is a rather small island, a great escapade to sit back, relax and abandon the hustle and bustle of the city life. Sandy beaches, crystal clear sea water and fresh breeze are some of the main attractions there. If you were to visit Haikou, feel free to try out their various coconut based products. In a nutshell, I enjoyed my holidays!! I will blog more about my holidays in Haikou soon...
